So I put a second battery in today. Got a tray from a diesel 60 and moved the coolant overflow bottle and relocated some emission stuff, but all in all turned out well. Just need to hook things up, will do that soon. Still not sure on placement of things yet, but I got a good start.

Sweet setup, nice and clean. Did you put an isolator switch in too? Now just carry a couple sets of jumper cables and some welding rod and you are good to go.

Well got more done with the dual batteries today. Mounted the marine switch, isolator and bus bar. Tried to do it so I wouldn't have battery cables all over the place. Now that every thing is mounted in place, I can now get the cable and hook things up. Hopefully she'll start on either battery when i get done.
Also got everything to make and hook up stick/arc welder for the batteries. It will be a quick disconnect setup so all you have to do is flip a switch for 24 volts and start welding. So our next run we'll have a trail welder..................just in case (knock on wood).

Well got it all wired up....but not working right. Half the cruiser has power and i dont think its charging the batteries. I think I went to complicated on this setup. I think the isolator is screwing me up. I can start the truck on either battery, have headlights and such, but no dome light, no park lights or brake lights, no radio and i dont know what else yet. It got late last night, so I will continue the battle later today. I might just forget the isolator and just run the marine switch. I want to make sure both get charged, so maybe just have the switch inside the cab and then be able to switch whenever i need to. Frustrating....

Well I got everything working!!! I took the isolator out of the equation, and she works great. Starts off either battery, charges which ever i have selected, and has better charge than before due to some cable replacement. Now just have to take it all apart again, and paint a few brackets, put some heat shrink on connectors, and neaten things up. Oh and mount my 24V quick disconnect harness in the engine bay for the welder. Pics soon to follow.
